Raushan Ara

'Get yourself a support network.'

Born in Bangladesh, Raushan came to Ramsgate to work in the family business, which she has run for over 30 years. She studied for a degree as a mature student, had two children -  one with profound disabilities -  and became the Kent's first female Muslim Mayor. Her story is one of drive and resilience as she battles to get the support her son needs and to improve the life of the local community.
